Getting Started with Qarnot's Simulation Platform This guide will walk you through the process of setting up and launching your first simulation on Qarnot's platform. By following these steps, you'll be able to quickly start your numerical simulation tasks. To access the simulation form, start by clicking on “Start a simulation”.
Step 1: Choose Your Software You should now be on the "Software" section (sections are highlighted above the form). Select your simulation software from the list of commercial or open-source options. Choose the appropriate version from the dropdown menu. You can now move on to the next step. Step 2: Set Up Input and Output
Go to the "Input" section. For input data, you have 2 options: Select an existing cloud folder Upload local assets to create a new cloud folder. For output data, 3 options: Use the same folder as input (default) Choose a different existing cloud folder Create a new cloud folder for results. Configure Cluster control. Choose between:Run a simulation: Enter the command to trigger your simulation and monitor it using command line tool (ssh) or a graphical user interface Start a cluster: Start one or several servers and connect to the head node using command line tool (ssh) or a graphical user interface Remote Desktop: Connect to a signle node using a graphical user interface directly in your browser For more information on cluster control, consult our dedicated documentation
Step 3: Select Hardware Choose a pricing plan: Flex - reduce cost by launching a preemptible simulation (available by default)On-Demand - once launched, your simulation cannot be interrupted (requires sales team contact)Reserved - your resources are guaranteed in advance (requires sales team contact) Select a processor model based on your simulation needs. Select the number of computing nodes you need for your simulation Select the number of cores available per node (default is our recommendation for optimized performance). Changing the number of core available does not impact pricing Set the maximum wall time for your task. Step 4: Advanced Settings (Optional) Configure snapshots: Set snapshot frequency (in seconds) Use a regular expression (regex) to filter files for snapshots Set up monitoring: Use file tailing to track specific files during simulation. The filter also uses regex. Add a post-processing script if needed: Specify the command to execute it If the simulation fails midway, the postprocessing will not be launched. If the simulation succeed, but the postprocessing fails, the workloads is considered as successful Step 5: Launch Your Simulation After configuring all necessary parameters, submit your task to start the simulation.
Tips for Optimal Use Bookmark frequently used commands for quick access in future sessions. Be mindful of snapshot frequency and file sizes to maintain cluster performance. Use the monitoring features to keep track of your simulation's progress. By following this guide, you should be able to quickly set up and launch your first simulation on Qarnot's platform, leveraging its powerful features for your numerical simulation needs.
